The Bernedoodle
Beautiful. Cheerful. Sociable.
Our favourite characteristic of the Bernedoodle is it's happy, goofy nature. No matter what kind of day you are having, your Bernedoodle pup will always be there to cheer you up!
Physical Traits
Our F1B Bernedoodle puppies are 25% Bernese Mountain dog and 75% mini Poodle. Generally, the Bernedoodle is described as a 'shaggy teddy'. While they vary in colour, our puppies are typically bicoloured or tricoloured with black, white, and tan. Once they reach adulthood, they can weigh around 40 lbs and stand 18" tall. They are considered a medium sized dog.
Coat & Care
Our Bernedoodle's typically have that wavy or curly coat that is ideal for people with allergies. Since the puppies are three-quarters Poodle, their coat has minimum to no shedding. However, with their curly coat comes a greater need for grooming. Daily brushing is important to prevent painful matting, and your Bernedoodle will need a haircut every few months.
Temperament
The Bernedoodle puppy is both affectionate and playful, making it the most wonderful family pet. With this mix, you get the sweet, mellow temperament from the Bernese blended with the sociability, smarts, and sense of humour of the Poodle. This hybrid barks infrequently, and is especially gentle-natured and loves children.
Exercise & Lifespan
While the Bernedoodle does love being your personal snuggle buddy, they also love to be active outdoors. This breed requires at least 30 minutes of daily active exercise, and do best with a fenced yard.
The average life span of this crossbreed is 12-18 years.
Adaptability
Since the Bernedoodle is a sociable dog, it does require consistent social stimulation to reinforce positive behaviours. Due to the Poodle parent's intelligence, the Bernedoodle is also easy to train. However, this also means she can learn behaviours (good or bad) quickly - which is why training is essential for this breed.
